Today we returned to league action after 3 weeks of cup ties, Stowmarket travelled up the road to face Afc Cedars.
First half
Stow get the first half underway and attacking straight away with a good one two with captain Sam Turner and debutant Elliott Ballard but the ball rolled out of play, straight from the goal kick Afc Cedars make a challenge and a free kick is awarded to Stowmarket United, Elliott Ballard stands over it and crosses in a lovely ball onto Sam Turners head and stow take the lead with just 3 minutes played. Stow had alot of the ball in this half with the back four of Ben Carter, Jordan Keeble, Matt & Bobby Musgrove having a great game keeping cedars from getting near the goal. 16 minutes on the clock and Bradley Buckley-Hill who returned to the club today sent in a corner which was met by a bullet header from Ben Carter who scores his first goal since signing. Stow now 2-0 up.
Cedars latch onto a loose ball it comes to former Stowmarket United man Lee Gardner who hits it with not alot of power and safely into the hands of keeper Nathan Farrant. Stow have some more chances but none of them finding the back of the net so we go into the break 2-0 up
Second half
Cedars get the half started but a misplaced pass ends up at the feet of Elliott Ballard who runs the half of the pitch and sends in a cross that is met by TJ Phair who heads home and also scores his first goal for the club just 31 seconds into the second jalf . Stow really running the show early on in the half with some great passing Bradley cutting out almost every pass from cedars 4 minutes later stow have the ball again Sam has the ball out wide and makes a pass to Bradley Buckley-Hill who drives into the box and makes it 4-0to stow some great football being played neither side being able to take chances for a while in the second half and it's the 75th minute before Cedars finally manage to break stows backline and grab a goal back to make it 4-1 however less than a minute later Sam passes the ball into Elliot Ballard who is just inside the cedars half and decides to shoot and the bobble gets the better of the cedars keeper and ends up in the back of the net Stowmarket now have 5. Subs made sees stow introduce Logan Fisher, Leo Fraser-Bell and Connor Roberts who all put a shift in the final minutes of the game and confirm the derby day victory for stow!
